THE PROBLEM
Great crested grebes and coots have lost their reed beds. In spring, they nest on anything floating just above the water: swim platform, boat cover, mooring lines. An occupied grebe nest is protected by federal law. Your boat stays tied up until the chicks have left.

Nearly 200 platforms have been installed since 2025, in 12 harbours and municipalities in French-speaking Switzerland, on Lake Geneva and Lake Neuchâtel. In Morges, harbour master Joël Happe sums it up: “It works very well.” And until 31 January, you can cancel at no cost.
It happens, especially with coots, which are less predictable than grebes. What helps most: put the platform between the pontoon and the stern of the boat, and tie it with two ropes so it stays flat. Call us in March and we'll look at your berth together.
Yes. The pre-order can be cancelled at no cost until 31 January. You get a full refund.
Yes. Grebes can nest several times between March and September, up to three broods. With the platform nearby, they have a better spot than your boat.
No. No food, no bait. It gives the birds already there a better spot than your boat.
A little, yes, especially under a big nest. Tie it with two ropes so it stays flat, and take it out of the water at the end of the season.
The assembled platform, its marine rope, its stainless steel carabiner and the installation instructions.
Better to take it out at the end of the season. It can stay in the water, but the rope and the cork wear out much faster.
Each platform has a tag with a unique number. Clip the carabiner to a fixed point on the pontoon and add a second rope.
No, as long as it stays within your berth.
